GroundedPick is a free resource. Here is a complete, plain-English explanation of how we earn revenue, what that means for our editorial decisions, and what guarantees we make to readers.
1. Affiliate links
When you click a "Get coupon," "Shop at," or retailer link on GroundedPick, that link may contain a tracking code that tells the retailer's affiliate program that you came from our site. If you complete a purchase within the affiliate window (typically 24–30 days, depending on the retailer), we receive a commission.
How commissions work in practice:
- Commission rates typically range from 1% to 15% of the order value, depending on the retailer and product category.
- You pay the same price regardless of whether you click an affiliate link or navigate to the retailer directly.
- Coupon codes we test and publish may or may not be tied to our affiliate program. We test and publish them for reader value, not commission income.
- Our affiliate relationships are non-exclusive — we can and do link to any retailer, regardless of whether they are in our affiliate program.
2. Sponsored and featured placements
Some stores, brands, or products pay to appear in highlighted positions such as "Featured stores," "Sponsored" cards, or pinned positions in a category listing.
How sponsored content is labeled:
The store or brand paid for placement in this position. The card may appear above editorial results.
The store paid for featured visibility but appears in a clearly separated section from editorial content.
Editorial designation only — means our team has checked this store's legitimacy signals. Cannot be purchased.
Sponsored and featured labels are never removed from paid placements and never applied to editorial content.
3. Our editorial independence guarantee
What advertisers can and cannot buy
- Advertisers cannot purchase a higher star rating or score.
- Advertisers cannot purchase removal of negative review findings, complaints, or red flags.
- Advertisers cannot prevent a "Not Recommended" or negative verdict from being published.
- Advertisers cannot approve or review editorial content before it is published.
- Advertisers can purchase labeled sponsored/featured placement — separate from editorial rankings.
- Advertisers can submit corrections or disputes through the same channel available to all readers.
The editorial team operates independently of the commercial team. Editors are not compensated based on advertiser relationships or affiliate revenue from individual stores they cover.
4. How we pick what to cover
Our editorial calendar is driven by reader demand and search data, not by advertiser relationships. We prioritize coverage based on:
- Reader requests submitted via our contact form and newsletter
- Search volume for store names, product categories, and buying questions
- Stores or products where our review data shows significant consumer confusion or complaints
Having an affiliate relationship or paid placement does not increase a store's chance of editorial coverage. Not having one does not decrease it.
